With a heavy heart the Carnoustie Panmure Youth committee have decided that this year’s Annual Awards ceremony, which would normally have been held in June for our 11-aside teams, will be cancelled due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause but the current Scottish Government Covid-19 Guidance restrictions on public gatherings prevent the event going ahead at the moment.
The children and the teams have done amazingly well this season and it must have been very disappointing for the players, coaches and parents when the season was suspended in March.
The 2003 team were 4th in the league and had got to the last 32 of the Scottish Cup and last 16 of the East Region cup. Special recognition should be given to the players, coaches and parents of the 2003’s who experienced a devastating loss in February when their team mate Adam Shepherd passed away. They completed a football marathon in his name, retired their no. 5 shirt in his memory and I’m sure will continue to do him proud.
The 2005 team were sitting 4th in the league with games in hand having won all 9 league games played and had reached the final of the Chuck McGowan Cup and the quarter final of another cup where they were due to play Scottish Cup semi finalists Fairmuir.
The 2006’s were 6th in the league playing well and due to play the quarter final of the Mac Brown cup.
The 2007 team were 5th in the league, had reached the quarter final of the East Region cup and were due to play the semi final of the Ross Ballantine League cup when football was suspended.
The Youth team managers for our 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 11-aside teams have individual trophies to present to their players to recognise their participation and achievements in this exceptional year and will be in touch to make alternative arrangement for their teams presentation in due course.
I would like to thank the Carnoustie Panmure Youth committee members, coaches and parent helpers who are all volunteers and have worked hard again this year to provide the opportunity for the children to play our national game.
Best Wishes
Scott Arthur
President, Carnoustie Panmure Youth
